Dune: Part Two Announced by Legendary and Warner Bros., Releasing Exclusively in Theaters in October 2023

Legendary tweeted a tweet today stating that Warner Bros. has approved the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s newest sci-fi epic, adding that it will be released in cinemas on October 20, 2023. Dune: Part Two will not have a day-and-date HBO Max release like the first, which launched on HBO Max with its theatrical release last week, according to Deadline sources.

“I just got word from Legendary that Dune: Part Two is officially going ahead,” Villeneuve remarked. “Adapting Frank Herbert’s Dune was a dream of mine, and I owe it to the fans, actors, and crew, Legendary Pictures, and Warner Bros. to make it a reality.” This is only the start.”

Despite its day-and-date broadcast on HBO Max, Dune did fairly well in its first weekend in cinemas. The picture grossed $41 million in its first weekend, exceeding expectations and becoming Villeneuve’s greatest domestic debut.
