NVIDIA Ends Driver Support for Kepler 600 and 700 Series GPUs with Today’s GeForce Game Ready Driver

NVIDIA has announced that the company will no longer provide drivers for Kepler 600 and 700 series GPUs due to a lack of demand. The company is encouraging users to upgrade their cards to Pascal or Turing-based GeForce 10 Series, 20 Series, 30 Series, and 40 Series GPUs.

NVIDIA’s GeForce Game Ready 496.13 WHQL driver was published today, and it’s a big one since it signals the end of mainline support for the green team’s allegedly old Kepler-based GPUs. The 496.13 driver, like the first from the 495 branch, lacks compatibility for a number of Kepler graphics cards, including old favorites like the GeForce GTX 780 Ti and GeForce GTX 690. A handful of TITAN models are also included.

NVIDIA no longer supports Kepler products:

  • GeForce GTX TITAN, GeForce GTX TITAN Black, and GeForce GTX TITAN Z are all part of the TITAN series.
  • GeForce GTX 780 Ti, GeForce GTX 780, GeForce GTX 770, GeForce GTX 760, GeForce GTX 760 Ti (OEM), GeForce GT 740, GeForce GT 730, GeForce GT 720, GeForce GT 710, GeForce GT 740 Ti (OEM), GeForce GT 740 Ti (OEM), GeForce GT 740 Ti (OEM), GeForce GT 740 Ti
  • GeForce GTX 690, GeForce GTX 680, GeForce GTX 670, GeForce GTX 660 Ti, GeForce GTX 660, GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST, GeForce GTX 650 Ti, GeForce GTX 650 Ti, GeForce GTX 650 Ti, GeForce GTX 650 Ti, GeForce GTX 650 Ti, GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST, GeForce GTX

The following is an excerpt from NVIDIA’s original support article:

Game Ready Driver updates, which include performance improvements, new features, and bug fixes, will be available for computers using Maxwell, Pascal, Turing, and Ampere-series GPUs starting in October 2021. On computers with desktop Kepler-series GPUs, critical security upgrades will be available until September 2024. A full list of desktop GeForce GPUs from the Kepler series can be found here.

Users of the Kepler series will continue to get security upgrades, but conventional updates like as new features, speed improvements, and support for the most recent games will no longer be available. In April of 2012, NVIDIA announced the Kepler architecture.
